4G cellular technology is how people refer to the next generation of cellular services such as cellphones. It was only provided by at least one provider in a number of places in the US in 2009. Because it was still fresh, there were no established industrial standards about what was a 4G cellphone. Thus, this is only the term marketing in the average time.
Letter G, which is used to shorten the making of words, in the world of cellular technology includes real progress from the last 20-20 years. 1 G technology includes the first mobile phone widely available. The replacement, 2G technology, began in the early 1990s – switched to digital format and introduced the concept of text messages. 3G technology makes it hold by increasing the way data is done, making it possible to improve information services such as websites in the original format. The famous iPhone is the most famous example of this technology.
4G cellular technology has not been established to have a range of standards and agreed protocols. This implies that the current feature is only a goal and yet full requirement. 4G cellular technology is still under the development of enhanced security measures, because the data transfer scheme increases drastically. The purpose of other 4G cellular technology is to overcome and minimize blip in transmission when one device moves from one area to another discussed by various networks. Another thing that is still done by 4G cellular technology is to find ways to use networks based on the IP address system used for the internet.
In the United States alone, there are two main systems using 4G cellular technology. The first is known as WiMAX and is supported by Clearwire – a company whose main owner is Sprint Nextel. It began the system testing phase in Baltimore in 2008 and was set to expand with a large market in 2009. The rival system is long-term evolution or LTE, which is supported by Verizon. It is expected to be ready for testing in 2010 but will not be available to use until 2012. LTE hopes to overcome this loss by providing speed faster and producing cheaper equipment.
Unlike the previous generation of cellular technology, 4G mobile will be used mainly for internet access on computers and carrying mobile communication. Customers in the fields that have strong 4G coverage can use them for home broadband connections without the need for cables installed in their homes. It can also be used to access the internet outside the home without having to be trapped in wireless hotspots as offered by several coffee shops, airports and libraries.
